On April 10th, 2008, the Chinese Embassy was informed that an Israeli citizen has unfortunately been cheated by a handful of criminals. He received emails from the so-called Committee of Multinational Corporation in Asia and Pacific Regions and was informed that he had received a big prize in the "One World One Dream 2008 Beijing Award". However, to get the prize money, he must pay a certain amount of tax to a certain account. He paid the money to the account and of course, instead of receiving his money, was requested to pay more. Only then did he realize that he had been deceived.
This is obviously and undoubtedly a case of fraud. Neither the Chinese Government nor any other organization of China has ever conducted or financed any prize award in the name of the Olympic Games.
The Chinese Embassy wishes to alert all of Israeli friends to beware of such emails and refrain from falling into such traps that might cause you financial loss.
We have listed herewith some of the emails that were sent and the forged "Tax Clearance Issuring Form" for your reference.
