Dear Friends, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Chinese Compatriots in Israel,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning! Welcome to our online reception to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. On behalf of Ambassador Cai Run and the Chinese Embassy in Israel, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to friends from all walks of life who have long given care to China's development and been supporting the development of friendly relations between China and Israel.
Since New China was born 72 years ago, tremendous changes have taken place in the country. Today China has taken on a new look. Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people made strenuous efforts and good solid work, and blazed a path to success that suits our national conditions. China saw an end to isolation, backwardness and poverty, and has embarked on a new journey towards openness, progress and prosperity.
This is a path of development that features constant self-renewal. China has created a miracle of rapid economic and social development, kept long-term social stability, and became world's second largest economy. We have won a decisive victory over extreme poverty, completed the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, thus realizing the first centenary goal, and began a new journey toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.
This is a path of peace that features an unwavering commitment. China is determined not to tread on the beaten path of traditional powers. Instead, we are committed to an independent foreign policy of peace. China has never started a war or encroached upon a single inch of foreign soil. We are committed to peaceful co-existence with all countries and to non-hegemony, non-expansion and non-coercion. We have been and will always be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order.
This is a path of cooperation that features benefits for the whole world. China has always embraced the world with open arms and valued win-win cooperation. For more than a decade China has contributed over 30 percent to world economic growth. We are now the biggest trading partner of more than 130 countries and regions. China has provided more than one billion doses of finished and bulk vaccines to over 100 countries and international and regional organizations, making important contributions to the global fight against COVID-19.
This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. At the solemn commemorative event, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech to review a century of glorious achievements made by the CPC, and to envision a future of bright prospects featuring the great renewal of the Chinese nation. To understand today's China, one must understand the CPC. In modern times, China suffered immensely from foreign aggression, wars and turmoil, and was thrown almost to the brink of extinction. The CPC was founded in 1921 at this critical historical juncture. Under its leadership, the Chinese people realized national independence, liberation and remarkable development achievements. The Chinese nation witnessed its great leap from gaining independence to becoming prosperous and growing strong. China embraces mutually beneficial cooperation and a shared future with the world, and contributes greatly to human progress and world peace and security.

In a few months, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel, an important moment in our bilateral relationship. Recent years have seen deepening cooperation in various sectors and more frequent friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Israeli people. Since the start of the pandemic, people in China and Israel have been supporting and assisting each other in fighting the virus, demonstrating vividly "a friend in need is a friend indeed". Our practical cooperation grew despite the pandemic. Trade volume between China and Israel increased by 18.8 percent year-on-year in 2020, and grew 28.4 percent to $12.36 billion from January to July this year. Facts have proven that China and Israel, as partners of innovative comprehensive cooperation, share similar visions on cooperation and have complementary development strengths. Our fruitful cooperation have brought tangible benefits to our two peoples. I believe our bilateral ties will grow stronger and our friendship deeper in the coming years. Let us work together to embrace an even brighter future of China-Israel relations!
At the 32nd Summer Olympics concluded not long ago, the Israeli athletes competed courageously and achieved splendid results, for which I would like to extend my warm congratulations. In February 2022, China will host the 24th Winter Olympics, making another contribution to the International Olympic Movement after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The preparations are progressing smoothly. We have every confidence that, with concerted efforts by all sides, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games will be a simple, safe and splendid Olympic gathering, a successful event in the Olympic history. We look forward to the participation and sporting excellence of Israeli athletes. Beijing welcomes you!
